Bird Watching

The bird watching program was organised by Dr. Anna Neena George for the students of Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education Ponda Goa on 26th January. The location for bird watching was Carambolim Lake. Students boarded the bus at 2: 30 pm from the college and reached the location at 3:00 pm.

All the students gathered at the lake and were introduced to Mr. Omkar Dharwadkar and Ms. Mrunmayee Thakur from Goa Bird Conservation Network. Mr. Dharwadkar first gave an introduction of bird watching, the reason why birds migrate to different places, and other information. They also provided us with binoculars.

He sighted the first bird which was a Little Cormorant. All were amazed seeing the beautiful Little Cormorant. Every student got a chance to observe it. Soon it was focussed onto the Brahminy Kite, and this was followed by various other migratory birds. The program came to an end with the vote of thanks where students shared their experience.

This session was fun filled along with being informative. It thoroughly surprised us with the beautiful variety of birds that we were not expecting to see.
